Day 83 – Insulated

After several days of hammering and the preparation of timber for the stud walls, it is now much quieter in the hall. The R2.5 insulation wool has been inserted into the roof space and the new foam walls. As well as its insulating properties, it has a sound proofing capacity as well. It is working wonderfully on the noise out the front, so we hope it will have an equal effect on the sometimes loud rows from the junior apprentices.

Day 77 – South wall rendered

Today the rendering of the south wall was completed. The north wall has a substantial curve in it which would require at least 50mm of render in some places to make straight. It will be framed up and plastered instead.

Day 4 – More holes and the last wall comes down

Day 4 and the workers dug more holes and removed the last of the bricks from the interior walls. Hooray! A lintel has been installed at the east end. We now have a true sense of the size of the space.
